Sky Over Bald Ridge6" x 8"Pastel on Rives BFK HeavyweightCasey KlahnMarch, 2008
Our area is known as the Bald Ridge. Relatively rural and very bucolic. I haven't done skies very much for the past few years, and I like the treatment that the Rives paper can give to a skyscape.

This is really great! I love the clouds and the colors.
Thanks, Miki.
I'll post five color tips tomorrow.
ohoh... i like the effect of different directions of land and sky in this one a lot - i assume that 'bucolic' means that kind of high rising clouds? very interesting effect!!
I am happy you noticed that directional thing, Gesa. It turns out that I never do that, for various reasons. It was just something that happened, and it worked.
Bucolic(must be an American term), think of cows in the pasture. Pastoral and pleasant.
