- Draw at least 1,000 drawings this year, if you want to improve. That's less than 3 a day, so you can do it.
- Smudge the graphite with your fingers to get a wash effect.
- Some of my best drawings were done with a dull pencil.
- Rarely use the eraser, unless to add an effect.
- Begin with your center of interest, and work outward, with an eye toward balancing the composition.

Hi Casey, just reading this one again, I need to comment. 1000 drawings a year and merely 3 a day almost made me fall over backwards... what an incredible number... I'll never get there, but I suppose it would make sense, wouldn't it?! In particular seeing that probably any I'll do will be better that done than not :)
Hey, Gesa, I'm glad you're reading these.
I am only now becoming aware of how painting has effected my art. Drawing will always be my first love.
It's a funny one: I think colour is what my heart beats for, but all the same, I find myself being more and more drawn to people's drawings (there's a pun) and preparatory work; and getting more experimental with lines too.
