Belvedere - Work in Progress

Belvedere - WIP
@ 3.5" x 3.5"
Pastel
Casey Klahn

This was a demonstration work in Bellevue a couple of weeks ago.  It had some technical roughness, and so I am planning to do it over.  At Daniel Smith, in Bellevue, I used my demo earnings to buy an LED LightPod, and have already gotten a couple of follow-on images from this one.  This scene was taken from a photo I took in Italy in 2006.

Great colors in this, Casey, and it's got lots of neat things going on with the edges - looks like fun!

amazing detail for such a tiny piece...I can barely get a mark on such small support. Love it, now to investigate the Light Pod?!

Now, is this wallis paper? Does the light go thru wallis? or were you using it for other work...do tell, I am confused.

I might be wrong about that size - I'll go look. Maybe it is 4x5? The studio is separate from the house.

Cindy, this is light gray La Carte. But, the overworked picture had so much pastel it barely showed. I used a sheet of typing paper, lifting it to confirm my lines. Then, I transferred the front image and the back pastel - rub image, too.

The transfer was done with a clean, light gray LC stock, which sees through fine.

Wallis may be fine, since it is white. I'll try that sometime.

That red "dripping off" the roof is killer.

Ha ha. Thanks, Jala.

I think it both pushes down into the picture, and pushes forward, huh?
