Loved your presentation of your thoughts on pastel painting. The comment about the half completed painting having also taken half your freedom was a bit of an epiphany for me. New to both visual art, and to the medium, I have struggled uncomfortably with the initial rough-in/under painting; heaving a sigh of relief when a clear road map for my creation was in place. It never occurred to me that I had just lost half my freedom. I will take that thought with me to my next painting, and see what happens.
