His dark purples and greens almost always fit the needs I have for intensity.Miki Willahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01903615512823465964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2198846129564779379.post-12830234893294687522009-03-03T13:39:00.000-08:002009-03-03T13:39:00.000-08:00I have never handled one of Henri Roche's pastels ...I have never handled one of Henri Roche's pastels - I understand the greater pigment amount is their merit. But, I can make my own with as much pigment as will stick together, so I'm not going to buy into those yet.

Sennies are all over the place for consistency - with scratchy all the way to very crumbly. But, the reason is that they favor the pigment over the handling qualities. That appeals to me and the difference is definitely there.

I love the Sennies for some of their hues which are matched by few others. You may learn to love them too, although perhaps it will be the kind of love one gets from an arranged marriage. I know that handling is important at first, but think about every pastel stick on every piece of paper as a whole new experience - each time.Casey Klahnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08020906666248399435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2198846129564779379.post-56542737239198152062009-03-03T13:05:00.000-08:002009-03-03T13:05:00.000-08:00Casey, have you tried the LaRoche pastels, and are...Casey, have you tried the LaRoche pastels, and are they really the best in the world? What are they like in feel and application that so distinguishes them?

On a different note, the only Senneliers I own are a half-stick assortment. I really like their colors, but am I the only one who finds that some of the colors have little hard sharp bits in them that rip up the paper unpleasantly? I thought maybe I'd gotten a bad set, so I returned them and got another and it was exactly the same. It's especially noticeable in some of the blue and yellow sticks.Jala Pfaffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01186623108399217523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2198846129564779379.post-4028276002720683032009-03-02T16:01:00.000-08:002009-03-02T16:01:00.000-08:00Thank you, Sue!Thank you, Sue!Casey Klahnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08020906666248399435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2198846129564779379.post-60209447859510504432009-03-02T15:26:00.000-08:002009-03-02T15:26:00.000-08:00Casey, this painting is gorgeous!Casey, this painting is gorgeous!Sue Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03875194239526613487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2198846129564779379.post-59561711691334697782009-03-01T13:04:00.000-08:002009-03-01T13:04:00.000-08:00Hey, Eden!
